Two second grade classes from Seattle Country Day School teamed up for a visit to the Pike Place Market today. They met at Rachel the Pig, where Education Program Director Scott Davies welcomed them, and asked them to finish this sentence, “When I think about the Pike Place Market, I think of ____________”.
After finishing that sentence in the Market Classroom, they split into smaller groups, and started exploring. One group had an interesting time sampling the tasty olive oils at Sotto Voce:
One part of each group’s assignment was to find a food beginning with each letter of the alphabet. They were doing very well, but got hung up for a while, looking for a “Y” food – that is, until they looked at this display at Choice Produce – bonanza! Can you find 3 “Y” foods in the picture?
The group wrapped up their tour with a stop at indi chocolate, where Alissa explained the story of chocolate, showed where it came from, and then offered them a treat – hand lotion that smelled like chocolate – amazing! Thanks!
