A fantastic classroom of third graders from Woodmore Elementary toured the Market today! One group enjoyed a sample of some really tasty jam at Woodring Orchards:
At one point they ventured out into the new MarketFront, where they visited indi chocolate. Kenna taught them about making chocolate, and offered them a sample of some in process. They also got to try some special cocoa butter lotion – mint or rose – wow!
After groups completed their assignments, they returned to the Market Classroom for lunch. While they were eating, they had a chance to play Now and Then, matching historical Market photos (bottom row) with the same scenes today (top row).
This activity is also available online: Now & Then – Match old market photos with current photos – a part of the Education Program of the Pike Place Market. Look under “Lesson Plans” for this, and many other wonderful educational opportunities.
