Oct 4, 2018 Bertschi School

In the first week of 2018-19 school tours, two wonderful classrooms of second graders from  Bertschi School had a great time at the Pike Place Market! One group had a difficult time deciding on which ONE sample to try at Woodring Orchards – so many choices!

A little farther along up the North Arcade they met two Buskers who were getting ready to perform and asked them whether Buskers could play electric guitars at the Market. “Absolutely not!” was the reply, “No electrified music, no microphones, and no brass instruments – except for the tuba player, who has an exemption, because he’s so good, and can play really soft!” Well then. A few minutes later, the group stopped back and enjoyed listening to some great music from those Buskers – on washtub bass, ukulele, kazoo, and vocals:

Next stop was the new MarketFront, where they found their school’s Market Charm – yes, they really have one!

Back in the original Market, they headed Down Under for some very different experiences, like being amazed at the Magic Shop in the Market by Jonathan, who changed a card to a different one right in front of their eyes!

The group wound up their tour by talking with Jim, the owner of Gem Heaven, who showed them many dazzling gems (and fossils!) from all over the world:
